FLOATING LANDSCAPES
The landscape traditions of Eastern and Western Art inform this series. The distant landscape is examined close-up and in three dimensions. Like Chinese scholar stones viewed in the studio or classical garden, they speak of the micro/macro worlds found in nature. The work begins with found natural objects, mostly tree debris that I collect and assemble into small-scale invented landscapes then sculpt these models in terracotta clay.
